We're kicking off the festival the way we know best: fire, a shared meal, and a table full of inspiring humans. Chef Mindy Woods of Karkalla — restaurateur and proud Bundjalung woman — leads a long table dinner built around native ingredients, Country and culture, told through food.

Aunty Delta opens the evening with a Welcome to Country, dancer Mitch King performs, and Benja Roberts and the DINGO Choir bring it home in song, before we sit together for storytelling through food.

No stage. No rush.

Just Bundjalung stories, shared plates, and a long table under the trees.

5.45pm — Aunty Delta's Welcome to Country, dance and choir performance

6.30pm — Seated. Mindy Woods in conversation with Chris Tyas. Ella speaks on The Returning

7.00pm — Dinner service begins

9.00pm — Dinner wraps, stay for drinks or roam into DINGO's wider Friday program

Gagabalingu — Goanna season, a time of abundance returning

Country is warming after Waringu and Yarrgehmbu. Flowers are opening, insects and pollinators are becoming active, and animals are moving and feeding.

The ocean is moving too, with whales making their journey south.

Gagabalingu is a time when Country visibly awakens — a season of movement, renewal and abundance returning.

Our menu draws from that seasonal energy and celebrates our living relationship with Country.
