Poetry is a vessel that holds the essence of culture. It invites listeners in, quietly opening doors, setting the stage, harmonising voices, and making one feel at home.

Grains of Sand returns in 2026 with voices shaped by migration, memory, language and resilience. This multicultural poetry showcase brings together poets whose work crosses cultures, histories, places and lived experience, giving centre stage to powerful poetic expression from diverse communities.

Hosted by

Asha Rajan, a Indian-Australian poet, writer and editor based in Boorloo/Perth on Whadjuk Noongar boodjar, whose work explores culture, connection, inclusion, feminism and parenthood.

Grains of Sand moves through migration, identity, language, heritage, cultural memory and the universal longing for home.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event courtesy of our official festival bookseller, Rabble Books & Games.
