About
Following the success of our 2025 Crescendo Music Competition, we are delighted to announce its return in 2026, now expanded to include Violin, Viola & Cello alongside Piano.
This year’s competition aims to further enrich the musical journey of all students. With participation extended to students from external teachers and local music schools, the event continues to grow as a vibrant and supportive community celebration of musical excellence.
Each category will be carefully structured by repertoire level to ensure fair and constructive adjudication. We are honoured to welcome Dr Tonya Lemoh, Head of Classical Piano at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (ECU/WAAPA), to serve on our panel of adjudicators. An internationally recognised pianist, educator, and recording artist, Dr Lemoh has performed extensively across five continents and is widely respected for her contributions to both performance and music education.
We are also delighted to welcome Sophie Curtis to the adjudication panel. A respected Perth-based cellist and educator, Sophie is the founder of the WA Young Artists Chamber Music Program (WAYACHAMP), an initiative dedicated to nurturing ensemble musicianship among young performers. She is an active member of AUSTA, an AMEB examiner, and is regularly invited to adjudicate and examine at schools and performing arts festivals across Perth.
The adjudication panel will provide valuable and constructive feedback to support each participant’s artistic development, while recognising outstanding performances through awards and prizes.
We warmly invite all aspiring musicians to take part in this inspiring event and look forward to welcoming both returning and new participants to the Crescendo stage.
