Weaving Worlds is a vibrant, collaborative workshop inviting participants to explore voice, rhythm, and movement through the rich musical traditions of India, Africa, and Latin America.
This special session brings together Brisbane-based artists Menaka Thomas (Indian classical and fusion vocals), Kelsey Giarola (contemporary voice), and Tsoof Baras (Afro-Cuban rhythms), alongside Bundaberg-based movement artist Hannah Reed (Baylando Latin Fusion), whose dynamic approach to embodied practice weaves movement deeply into the experience. Supporting the musical journey is Darshil Shah on the Indian bansuri (bamboo flute).
The workshop unfolds in two parts: beginning with an exploration of vocal techniques, sound, and expression, and expanding into collective song, rhythm, and movement. Participants will be guided through an inclusive, creative process that encourages connection, play, and cross-cultural exchange.
Building on the success of collaborations with local artists in Bundaberg over the past two years, our Weaving Worlds workshop series marks an exciting new collaboration with Hannah Reed and continues our commitment to meaningful intercultural arts engagement.
