Winter Solstice Festival

The Winter Solstice Festival is back for 2024!

Join us for our annual Winter Solstice Festival, a celebration steeped in multicultural tradition as a time for renewal, reflection and reverence for the Earth's natural cycles.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Northey Street City Farm, so we'll be weaving in tales of connection & exploring the threads that connect Plants, People, and Permaculture.

Step into a world of connection and contemplation on the longest night of the year. Immerse yourself in permaculture talks, gardening workshops, thought-provoking panel discussions, art and activities for the whole family.

Workshop themes and discussions include:

Hannah Moloney (Good Life Permaculture) - 'An exploration in community, connections and our collective power to do good in the garden and beyond'

Jerry Coleby-Williams (Seed Savers) - 'Pushing the Boundaries, Improving Lives - Growing Underexploited Food Plants'

Bruce Gululai Phillips (Murri Tukka) - 'Bush Tukka Talks & Tastings'

Gavin Hardy (NSCF) - 'Secrets of the City Farm' Food Forest Tour

Panel discussion with Morag Gamble (Permaculture Education Institute), Guy Ritani (PermaQueer), Dominique Chen (Walking Story) and Emma Brindal (NSCF).

and many more to be announced!

When the sun goes down, join us for more live music, a crackling bonfire, solstice ceremony and our annual lantern parade.

Our pop-up markets will offer an array of culinary delights and dining experiences, a true reflection of the diverse flavours of our community.

Bring a picnic blanket, your favourite people, and join us under the stars as we celebrate community, nature, and the days getting longer.

Get your tickets now and let's make some magical memories together at the Winter Solstice Festival!
