Kambri Film Fest | The Comeback Trail presented with ANU Film Group

This summer, the second annual Kambri Film Fest will ignite the imaginations of the young and the young-at-heart.

About this Event

Settle in for a silver screen program to suit everyone – be entertained by the retro or the recent, side with the strong-willed or the sentimental, and be captivated by true tales or tall stories.

There are twelve days of free fun on offer from Thursday the 21st January to Sunday the 7th of February. They’re exhilarating accounts of the adventures we dream of and the characters we copy, all held in the comfort in Kambri's own cinema, where guests can escape whatever elements summer may bring.

The Kambri Film Fest 2021 is part of the HERE I AM: Art by Great Women festival and has been curated to celebrate and elevate the contributions of creative women in the film industry.

In debt to the mob and in need of a new money making scheme to save his skin, greedy grind-house film producer, Max Barber, (Robert Deniro) decides to produce a dangerous new film, all for the sake of killing his lead actor in a stunt so he can rake in the insurance money. But when he casts Duke Montana, (Tommy Lee Jones) an aging, washed up movie star as the lead, Max never expects the depressed old drunk to be revitalized by being in front of the camera again. Unable to kill Duke in a basic stunt, Max ups the stakes, putting Duke into ever more dangerous situations.

In addition to free entry, there’s even one complimentary popcorn and beverage (water, juice or Coke product) for every person who attends!

To make an occasion of it, families and friends of all ages can meet up for a pre-movie meal and drinks at one of Kambri’s popular eateries, before heading into the Kambri Cinema.

Parking is available at the ANU Kambri Union Court car park, with complimentary parking on the weekends for up to three hours.
