Derwent Regency Festival with Van Diemen's Angels et al
Celebrate the Regency era in style with an evening at Narryna, dance workshops in North Hobart, a Grand Regency Ball at St James Church Hall and a House and Garden Party at Glen Derwent Estate, New Norfolk.
Friday: Georgian and Regency Evening at Narryna Museum: Regency costume showings, exhibition and tours of Narryna house (1830s merchant house), refreshments in the garden and maypole dancing.
Saturday: Grand Regency Ball:
Divine period music including many Tasmanian pieces, by Van Diemen’s Angels
Dancing Master David Wanless will lead you through fun and lively dances. No partner or dancing experience required, though attending the morning workshop would make it even more fun. Dress period or formal if you can.
St James Hall, 462 Elizabeth St, New Town
There are also dance workshops during the day on Saturday at North Hobart Uniting Church Hall.
Sunday: Regency House & Garden Party: Regency activities, fine food and tea at Glen Derwent Heritage Retreat in the Derwent valley. Your ticket includes delicious period sweet and savoury food and hot and cold drinks as well as Regency dancing, live music, croquet, historic tours, maypole dancing, roses, peacocks and heritage sheep to view in the grounds and period games to play. Period attire admired but not required.
