Concord Library | City of Canada Bay Libraries presents

Sydney Writers' Festival 2020: Tony Birch at Concord Library

As part of this year's Sydney Writer's Festival, join Tony Birch in conversation with author and filmmaker Larissa Behrendt. Tony Birch has won the Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Indigenous Writing and has also been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award.

In his acclaimed new novel, The White Girl, Tony Birch shines a spotlight on 1960s Australia and the government's devastating policy of taking Indigenous children from their families. Set in a fictional Australian town at the tail end of the Menzies era, The White Girl is a captivating allegory of good and evil. Through the strong women at the story's core, Tony explores the legacy of Australia's colonial past.

Tony also received the Patrick White Award for his contribution to Australian literature and culture.

Light refreshments will be provided between 6-6:30pm.

Bookings are essential. Phone 9911 6210 or book online.
